Frequently asked questions
Questions worth clearing up early.
What to expect from the first conversation, project scoping and implementation.
01What does Datanaut do?
Datanaut helps organisations improve real business workflows using automation, analytics, document processing, SEO workflows and fit-for-purpose technology. We start with the objective, process and evidence before choosing tools.
02Which businesses are a good fit?
The strongest fit is usually an owner-led or operations-led organisation dealing with repetitive work, disconnected tools, document-heavy processes, slow reporting or inconsistent handovers. Fit depends more on the problem than on a specific industry or company size.
03What happens in the free assessment?
The 30-minute conversation is used to understand one area of friction, the outcome you want, the tools involved and whether there may be a practical fit. It is exploratory and does not include a complete audit, solution design or guaranteed recommendation.
04Is the detailed workflow audit free?
The introductory conversation is free. A detailed workflow review is paid work, with scope, outputs and fees agreed in a proposal before it begins.
05Which processes can be automated?
Potential areas include data entry, routing, approvals, notifications, follow-ups, handovers, recurring reporting and administrative work. Suitability depends on the inputs, exceptions, risks and the judgement required.
06Where does AI fit?
AI is an enabling capability, not the starting point. It may assist with classification, extraction, summarisation, response support or knowledge access when there is a clear use case and appropriate human oversight.
07Will automation replace employees?
We discuss which tasks change, who reviews exceptions and how responsibilities change before implementation.
08Can Datanaut work with existing systems and spreadsheets?
Potentially. Existing tools and spreadsheets are part of the discovery process. The simplest reliable route may be to improve or connect what is already in use rather than replace it.
09How are projects scoped and priced?
Projects are scoped around the workflow, responsibilities, complexity and risk. Your proposal sets out deliverables, acceptance criteria, timing and fees before work begins.
10What happens after implementation?
An engagement may continue into agreed support and optimisation, be handed over to the client's team, or end after the defined work is accepted. The appropriate route is decided in the project scope.
11How are data security and POPIA handled?
Access, security, retention and responsibilities are agreed for each engagement before project data is shared. Please describe your workflow without including confidential documents or personal records in an initial enquiry.
12How do we start?

Still weighing the fit?
Use the first conversation to test the problem, not sit through a pitch.
Bring the process that creates the most friction. We’ll use the first conversation to understand the problem, the intended outcome and whether there is a practical next step.
